The Lamp Lighting and Oath Taking Ceremony of 2020-2021

Venue: Kadamba Auditorium Hall.

The lamp lighting and Oath taking ceremony of 17th batch of B.Sc Nursing Students & 10th batch of GNM students of RajaRajeswari College of Nursing was organized on October 29th, 2021 at 10.30 am.

The lamp lighting ceremony is an auspicious occasion in every nurse’s life, held in reverence to Florence Nightingale, the lady with the lamp. Nursing is the only profession that follows lamp lighting ceremony. Light, as a symbol of knowledge, removes ignorance and is a lasting wealth by which lots could be achieved. The lamp lighting ceremony formally recognizes the students’ entry into the nursing profession.

The function began at 10.30 am with the procession of 1st year B.Sc (N) & GNM students. Ms. Anuja from 2nd year B.Sc (N) and Ms. Ashley from 3rd year B.Sc. (N) invoked God’s blessings. Welcome dance was performed by Ms. Algha and her group from Final year B.Sc (N). On this occasion DR. A. JEBARNA KIRUBA MARY Principal/Professor, RajaRajeswari School & College of Nursing welcomed the gathering. The programme was inaugurated with lighting the lamp and offering flowers to Florence Nightingale as a mark of gratitude. Mrs. Debalina Dey, Assistant Professor, Department of Pediatric Nursing briefed about the significance of the day. In the inaugural address, our beloved Principal Dr. A Jebarna Kiruba Mary emphasized the importance of inculcating honesty, integrity, team work, excellence and quality in personal and professional life. The lamp lighting ceremony was lead by the Chief Guest, DR. RAMU.K and our beloved Principal, DR. A. JEBARNA KIRUBA MARY. DR. RAMU.K, DEAN, Faculty of Nursing, RGUHS, lead oath to the budding nurses. Mrs. Kanchana M. Naik, HOD/ Professor, Department of Pediatric Nursing introduce the Chief Guest. The Chief Guest of the day was DR. RAMU.K, DEAN, Faculty of Nursing, RGUHS, and Dean RR College of Nursing Bengaluru. Addressing the students, he stressed upon the importance of principles of modern nursing and the need to adhere to the social responsibilities and values in life than luxuries. Moreover he highlighted on pandemic situation how the nurses deals and upgrade themselves. Dr. Sathyamurthy. B. DEAN RRMCH spoke to the students stressing upon inculcating the good human values. Programme continues with some cultural performances lead by Ms. Sunaina Priyanka Minz. Lecturer from the Department of Psychiatric Nursing. Ms.Reshma A.V, Lecturer, from the Department of Medical Surgical Nursing was the host of ceremony. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Mrs. Reshma Kharvi, Associate Professor from the Department Of Medical Surgical Nursing.

Global Handwashing Day

RRCN Bangalore created an awareness on Global Handwashing Day is an international handwashing promotion campaign to motivate and mobilize people around the world to improve their handwashing habits. Washing hands at critical points during the day and washing with soap are both important. Global Handwashing Day occurs on 15 October of each year.
