As part of world Breast feeding week celebration, on 3rd August, RajaRajeswari College of Nursing, IV Year B.Sc Nursing students organized world breast feeding week with a view to create an awareness among Mothers practice on exclusive breast feeding . Program was conducted in Post natal ward, at RajaRajeswari Medical College and Hospital, Bangalore.
The students educated the postnatal mothers about the importance of breastfeeding, nutritional needs of the infant, the composition of breast milk, the benefits of breastfeeding to infant and mother, exclusive breastfeeding, how to initiate weaning and progress. In addition, Ms Mamatha also demonstrated breastfeeding positions. Around 12 women participated in this programme.
Dept. of Obstetrics and Gynecology Nursing observed the National Safe Motherhood Day at RajaRajeswari College of Nursing, on April 10, 2022.
It is an awareness program specially designed for pregnant mothers. The first session was conducted by Ms Champa Dutta Asst. Professor, Obstetrics and Gynecologic Nursing, on “Minor Ailments of Pregnancyâ€. Secondly, IV Year B.Sc Nursing students educated the postnatal mother’s regarding post natal care and post natal complications.
The main purpose of the initiative is to inculcate knowledge about care during the perinatal period, so that the woman can lead life with a positive attitude towards pregnancy, labour and puerperium and gain proficiency in managing day to day life activities.
Department of Obstetrics and Gynecological Nursing, RajaRajeswari College of Nursing, celebrated the ‘International Day of the Midwives 2022’ on 5th May 2022. The theme for this year provided by the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM) was “100 years of Progress.†The idea of having an International Midwives’ Day was thought to be celebrated worldwide to recognize as well as honor the midwives. As part of this day, various activities and programs were scheduled this included poster presentation, mime and a panel discussion.
The Departments of Child Health Nursing, RajaRajeswari College of nursing, Bangalore observed ‘World Breastfeeding Week 2022’ on the theme “Step up for breastfeeding – Education and Support†with various activities conducted from 1st to 7th August 2022. The programme was conducted with an aim to advocate breastfeeding friendly practices in hospitals and create awareness among health care professionals and the public to support breastfeeding. The World Breastfeeding Week 2022 events were coordinated by Mrs Kanchana Naik , HOD , dept of pediatric Nursing and Mrs. Debalina Dey , asst professor Department of Child Health Nursing
Day-1 (2-08-22)To promote awareness among the mothers, a Mass Health Education with poster exhibition done in Antenatal & Postnatal ward, RajaRajeswari medical college and hospital ,Bangalore. The presentation was carried out in Hindi and kannada by 3rd year B.Sc Nursing students of RajaRajeswari College of nursing on the theme ―“Step up for breastfeeding – Education and Support†.The session highlighted the importance of early initiation of breast feeding, exclusive breastfeeding for six months, continuing breastfeeding till two years, avoiding formulae feeds and its disadvantages, positioning and attachment, expression and storage of breast milk.
Day 2(3-08-22)To bring awareness among the public, Poster Exhibition, Competition & Mass Health Education, skit and mime on Breast feeding was done in PHC, Chunchunkuppe, Bangalore on 3rd August 2022 by 3rd BSC nursing students
Day 3 (4-08-22)To bring awareness among the public, Poster Exhibition, Competition & Mass Health Education, skit and mime on Breast feeding was done in hospital lobby, RajaRajeswari medical college and hospital, Bangalore on 4th August 2022 by 2nd GNM and 3rd BSC nursing students .The main emphasize of the Exhibition was on the importance of breast feeding, breastfeeding technique and its advantages to mother, baby and the society.
Day 4(6-08-22)An interactive one day workshop ―Breast feeding, positioning technique and its importance‖ to the Students of RajaRajeswari College of nursing was conducted on 6th August, 2022 at kadamba auditorium by department of pediatric, RajaRajeswari medical college in collaboration with IYCF. Total 80 3rd BSC nursing students participated in this workshop .Students were educated on the breast feeding the premature babies, physiology of lactation, how breast milk works, latching Vs. bonding, positions, care of breast before and after feed, contents of breast milk, expressing breast milk, difficulties encountered and its treatment, nutrition for mother and advantages of breast feeding to the mother and baby.
Ganpati Bappa Morya!!
Ganesh Chaturthi is one of the main and most important festivals of Hindus, which is celebrated all over the country with great pomp and show.
On 01st September 2022, the students and faculty of RRCN came together to seek the blessings of Lord Ganesha, the god of knowledge, prosperity and happiness, at the RajaRajeswari College of Nursing Lobby.
As a part of celebrations a special assembly was organised in the College. A melodious song was sung by Madhumitha & group praising the existence of Lord Ganesha. The students performed colorful rangoli. The whole atmosphere was charged with festivity. Like every year Ganpati Idol was taken around the college premise and followed by arti and Prasad distribution
The programme concluded with positive vibes all around.
