The Department of Psychiatric Nursing, RajaRajeswari College of Nursing (RRCN), organized an impactful Suicide Prevention Awareness Programme on 26th September 2025.
The session focused on strengthening mental health understanding and equipping students with essential knowledge related to suicide prevention, early identification, and timely intervention.
Students from 6th Semester B.Sc. Nursing and 2nd Year GNM actively participated in the programme. The session covered key areas such as:
Mental health awareness and suicide prevention strategies
Recognizing early warning signs and behavioural changes
Available support resources, including counseling services, help centers, and crisis helplines such as the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline
The importance of empathy, communication, and timely response in mental health care
This initiative highlights RRCN’s commitment to fostering a supportive, empathetic, and well-informed campus community, while preparing future nurses with the skills needed to care for individuals with psychiatric and emotional needs.
