National Nutritional Week – 2024

Date: 2nd Sept – 5th Sept 2024Good nutrition is important in keeping people healthy throughout their lives i.e. when they are babies, toddlers, children, adults, older adults and also during certain periods when people are affected due to some disorders or conditions. Hence, a good nutrition is a part of our life to maintain our health. A healthy eating plan should give energy and nutrients required such as proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals and water. The plan should consider our culture, traditions as well as budget. The National Nutrition Week is a global health care event focused on Nutrition. In India, it is observed for the first week of September every year since 1982.
The theme of National Nutrition Week 2024 is ‘Feeding Smart Right from Start’. This program aims to increase public awareness about the importance of good nutrition.
The National Nutrition week was organized by RajaRajeswari College of nursing as a part of awareness program based on the theme of ‘Feeding Smart Right from Start. The Nutrition week was held from 2nd September to 5th September 2024 at the Nutrition Lab of RajaRajeswari college of Nursing from 9.30 am to 1pm. The participants were B.Sc. Nursing 2nd semester and 1st GNM nursing students. The Students were divided into 14 groups and were assigned to prepare a one-day menu plan of a liquid diet, diet for hypertension, diet for 1-3 old children, High protein diet, diet for fatty liver, diet for diabetes mellitus, diet for old age, diet for school going child, diet for 3-5 old children, Vegan diet, diet for PCOD, diet for post-menopausal women and diet for 6 months to 1year. The Teachers were assigned to each group as an incharge and students discussed with their respected incharge and prepared the menu as per their diet plan and also, by considering nutrients and calories requirements. They followed food hygiene practice while preparing menu and presented along with the charts and with a brief presentation.
