Educational Field Visit to the Vrishabhavathi Valley (V Valley) Sewage Treatment Plant

As part of the academic curriculum, the Department of Community Health Nursing organized an educational field visit for the 5th Semester B.Sc. (Nursing) students of RajaRajeswari College of Nursing, Bangalore. The visit was conducted on 29th May 2025 to the Vrishabhavathi Valley (V Valley) Sewage Treatment Plant, located on Mysore Road, West Bangalore.The V Valley Sewage Treatment Plant is an integral part of the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) infrastructure. It plays a significant role in improving the water supply and sewage system of Bangalore. The plant has a treatment capacity of 150 MLD (Million Litres per Day).
The visit was conducted in two sessions to accommodate all students:
Session 1: 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM
Session 2: 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM
Students were accompanied by faculty members from the Community Health Nursing department. During the visit, the staff of the sewage treatment plant provided a detailed explanation of the various chambers and processes involved in sewage treatment. Students gained valuable insights into the working of the plant, the importance of sewage treatment, and the benefits of using treated water in various sectors.
