World Breast Feeding Week Day 01 – 2023

The Departments of Child Health Nursing, RajaRajeswari College of nursing, Bangalore observe “World Breastfeeding Week 2023” on the theme “Enable Breastfeeding- making a difference for working parents” with various activities conducted from 1st to 7th August 2023. The programme was conducted with an aim to advocate breastfeeding friendly practices in hospitals and create awareness among health care professionals and the public to support breastfeeding. The World Breastfeeding Week 2023 events were coordinated by Mrs. Debalina Dey, Associate professor Department of Child Health Nursing.
Day-1
To promote awareness among the mothers, a Mass Health Education with poster exhibition done in Antenatal & Postnatal ward, RajaRajeswari medical college and hospital ,Bangalore. The presentation was carried out in Hindi and Kannada by 3rd year B.Sc Nursing students of RajaRajeswari College of nursing on the theme “Enable Breastfeeding- making a difference for working parents”. The session highlighted the importance of early initiation of breast feeding, exclusive breastfeeding for six months, continuing breastfeeding till two years, avoiding formulae feeds and its disadvantages, positioning and attachment, expression and storage of breast milk. An interactive one day workshop Breast feeding, positioning technique and its importance– to the Students of RajaRajeswari College of nursing was conducted on 1 st August, 2023 at Kadamba auditorium by department of pediatric, RajaRajeswari medical college in collaboration with IYCF& IAP. Total 55 2 ND year GNM nursing students participated in this workshop .Students were educated on the breast feeding the premature babies, physiology of lactation, how breast milk works, latching Vs. bonding, positions, care of breast before and after feed, contents of breast milk, expressing breast milk, difficulties encountered and its treatment, nutrition for mother and advantages of breast feeding to the mother and baby. On this occasion poster presentation competition was held in RRMCH. Students from 3 rd year B.Sc.(N) & 2 nd year GNM had taken part. Ms. Debangi & Ms. Deepasha from GNM 2 nd year achieved 1 ST position and Ms. Monalisa, Ms. Crestina, Ms. Stency, Ms. Alibhiya,Ms. Naurin And Ms, Chisma from B.Sc(N) 3 rd year achieved 3 rd position in poster presentation.
