The Lamp Lighting and Oath Taking Ceremony of 2021-2022

The lamp lighting ceremony for the B.Sc Nursing and diploma nursing (GNM) Students of RRCN & RRSN was held on May 9th May 2022 at Kadamba Hall, RRMCH, Bangalore. Dr Gajendra Singh BOS Chairman, UG Nursing, RGUHS was the Chief Guest of the ceremony. Special guest of the occasion were Chief Executive officer Shri C N Seetharam, Retired IAS Officer, Dr. Satyamurthy Dean, RRMCH, Dr. Praveen, Medical superintendent.
The lamp lighting is an auspicious occasion in which formally recognizes the students entry into the nursing profession. Light is a symbol of knowledge and it removes ignorance.
The function began at 10.30 am with the procession of 1st year students and Ms. Anuja from 2nd year B.Sc (N) and Ms. Ashley from 3rd year B.Sc. (N) invoked God’s blessings. On this occasion Miss. Tinkar Kowsar Banu welcomed the gathering. The dignitaries on the dais lighted the lamp and inaugurated the ceremony.
Dr Shamili, Professor, Department of Psychiatric Nursing, highlighted the significance of the day and explained the scope of Nursing.
The dignitaries along with the faculty lit the lamps of 160 novice nursing students which symbolize wisdom, knowledge and compassion, followed by recitation of oath, pledging themselves to uphold the duties as a professional Nurse, administered by Principal, Dr A Jebarna Kiruba Mary.
The chief guest, Prof Dr Gajendra Singh, in his address to the gathering applauded the students for choosing the nursing profession. He emphasized the importance of acquiring knowledge and skills through class room learning and clinical practice. They stressed on qualities of nurses which make the patient to feel better and encourage the students to take part in direct patient care. Dr. Satyamurthy Dean, RRMCH congratulated the graduating students and wished them a glorious future and continued success in their academic and professional endeavours.
I Year B.Sc Nursing Students presented a model on Extended and expanded role of Nurse and III Year GNM Student namely; Sangeetha was stood as a model of astronaut Nurse
Mrs Manali Chakraborty, Lecturer, Department of Community Health Nursing, proposed the vote of thanks. The Programme was compered by Mrs Debalina Dey, Assistant professor, Department of Pediatric Nursing
The ceremony came to an end at 12.30 pm with national anthem.
