Date: 21/03/2024The community health nursing posting at Kethohalli, Bangalore, undertaken by 3rd-year GNM students from RajaRajeswari School of Nursing, focused on conducting comprehensive under-5 assessments for 15 children at the local Anganwadi centre. Led by Dr. Tejeshwari B.V, HOD, and Professor Mrs. Deepa B.M, lecturer in the Department of Community Health Nursing,
the assessment encompassed anthropometric measurements to evaluate the children’s growth and development. Each child’s height, weight and other relevant measurements were meticulously recorded to assess their nutritional status and overall well-being. Through this initiative, the students gained practical experience in applying their nursing skills in a community setting,
while also contributing to the health monitoring efforts in the village. The guidance provided by Dr. Tejeshwari B.V and Mrs. Deepa B.M ensured the accuracy and effectiveness of the assessment process, reinforcing the importance of collaboration between academic institutions and community healthcare providers in promoting child health and welfare. This experience not only enriched the students’ understanding of community health nursing but also served to empower the local community with valuable health insights for better childcare practices.
