Report on Rural Field Experience at Kethohalli

From 4th March to 28th March 2024, the 3rd-year GNM students of RajaRajeswari School of Nursing, under the guidance of Dr. Tejeshwari B.V, HOD & Professor, and Mrs. Deepa B.M, Lecturer, embarked on a rural community field experience in Kethohalli, Bangalore. During this period,
various impactful programs were conducted, including a School Health Program dedicated to promoting student well-being through health education and screenings. Additionally, a Tuberculosis Day Awareness Programme was organized to educate the community about tuberculosis prevention, detection, and management, addressing a significant health concern in the area. Furthermore, in observance of Women’s Day, a special awareness program focused on women’s health issues, empowerment, and rights was conducted.
These initiatives aimed to contribute to the enhancement of health outcomes and overall community well-being in Kethohalli. The experience provided valuable insights into community health nursing practices, emphasizing the importance of community engagement and highlighting the unique challenges faced in rural healthcare settings. Overall, the field experience was a valuable learning opportunity for the students, inspiring them to continue serving communities through nursing interventions and advocacy.
